A government delegation from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan visited KATU

The delegation from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (hereinafter - IRA), headed by the Head of the communications center of IRA presidential administration Sidikulla visited JSC "S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University" (hereinafter KATU). The delegation consisted of the Director of the International Relations Department, Nasseri Nafisa, Bakhand Mohammad Latif, the authorized adviser Khairi M. Khumayum and the representatives of the Embassy of the IRA in Astana.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss promising directions for expanding cooperation, as well as familiarize with the conditions and activities of the university where students from the IRA are studying.

The guests were met by the Chairman of the Board A.K. Kurishbaev Vice-rector for scientific and innovation activities I.T. Tokbergenov and the Director of ICandMEDC S.A. Meiramova participated in the meeting from the part of KATU.  

In his welcoming speech, Akhylbek Kazhigulovich acquainted guests with the activities of KATU, as well as the work carried out in partnership with the IRA and the Embassy in Astana. The Rector identified possible prospective directions for expanding cooperation.

He also noted that since 2011 within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education, 31 students have successfully graduated from KATU. In 2017-2018 academic year 5 students are studying on the 4th course of agronomy and technical faculties. It should be noted that citizens of the IRA have also been studied and are studying at KATU under the Master's program.

In turn, the members of the delegation thanked for the warm welcome and stressed the importance of the mission carried out by the university.

At the end of the meeting, the Parties reached an agreement on the continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation, in particular, the training of IRA citizens in KATU on bachelor and master's programs.
