Visit of the delegation from Potato company Xisen (China) to KATU

On January 9, 2017, a meeting with a delegation from the People's Republic of China (hereinafter - PRC) headed by Mr. Hu Baigeng, Director General of the Industrial Potato Company Xisen, was held at the S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University (hereinafter - KATU). The delegation consisted of three people: Hu Baigeng, Director General of the Industrial Potato Company Xisen, Xie Kaiyun, Director of the National Engineering Research Center, Ming Jin, Director of the International Trade Department.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss the issues identified in the minutes of the meeting on December 9, 2017 in the framework of the development of cooperation between KATU and the Industrial Potato Company  Xisen.

Chairman of the Board Akhylbek Kurishbaev thanked the general director of the Industrial potato company Xisen, Mr. Hu Baigeng for the support of KATU and briefly told about the current state of the cooperation, about the prospects of implementing joint projects.

Mr. Hu Baigeng thanked for the invitation and the warm welcome, and discussed the clauses of the preliminary agreement of the minutes of the meeting.

Akhylbek Kazhigulovich noted that KATU had done work to discuss the issue of promoting the potato variety Xisen 6 and include this potato variety in the register of promising varieties of agricultural crops in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Also, questions on the provision of a land plot for planting potatoes, building a greenhouse, a laboratory and a dam were raised.

In addition, the working issues of the draft programs and the discussion of the potato planting prospects were discussed with the representatives from the North Kazakhstan and Kokshetau regions of Kazakhstan. The candidate of biological sciences, the associate professor of the faculty of agronomy V.T. Khassanov presented the participants of the meeting the presentation on the draft program of the result-oriented budgeting, where 80% of the total amount of the project will be financed by the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Xisen will co-finance 20% of the total amount of the project.

In turn, the company Xisen is ready to allocate scholarships for training students who would be engaged in research in the field of potato production, Chinese students studying at KATU and orphans.

At the end of the meeting, the Parties exchanged memorable souvenirs and came to an agreement on further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
