On the 28th of September, 2018 S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University was visited by Alicia Kacprzhak, Forestry Officer of the Forestry and Timber Section, Forests, Land and Housing Devision of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) and Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva, Switzerland.
The purpose of the visit: establishment of cooperation, familiarization with the activities of the university.
The representative of the FAO was greeted by S. Mogilnyy, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Strategic Planning, Research and International Relations, D. Sarsekova, the Head of "Forest Resources and Forestry" Department and S.Kitaibekova, senior lecturer of "Forest Resources and Forestry" Department, Institutional Erasmus + coordinator of the Center of International Cooperation and Multilingual Education.
During the meeting S.Mogilnyy, Deputy Chairman of the Board acquainted the guest with the activities of the university and identified possible future directions of cooperation. Mrs. A. Katspzhak provided information on the FAO Forestry Department, which helps countries manage their forests on a sustainable basis. The Organization's approach balances social, economic and environmental objectives, so that today's generations can take advantage of the forest resources of the Earth, preserving them to meet the needs of future generations.
As a result of negotiations, the parties came to a decision to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of forestry: assistance in inviting foreign scientists; information about events held at S. Seifullin KATU at the international level; providing literature. In particular, Ms. A. Katspzhak was interested in the Erasmus + EU project "Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Development", which is being implemented at the “Forest Resources and Forestry” Department and will donate material from the UN FAO Organization for “green jobs"," green skills","green economy"in English and Russian languages to the SRPC (Scientific Research production Complex) “Saryarka” in Shchuchinsk. Within the framework of EU Erasmus + project SUSDEV it is planned to create a Center of Excellence.
In conclusion, Ms. A. Katspzhak got acquainted with the campus of the university and also visited the "Forest Resources and Forestry" Department, where she got acquainted with the activities of the Department in the field of science and education.
