On the 12th of December, 2017 Information workshop on new competitions of the European Union Framework Program for Research and Innovation "Horizon 2020" was held at Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University.
Before the beginning of the workshop, A.M. Abdyrov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Board and I.T.Tokbekenov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Activity of Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University received Mr. Traian Christie, Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Kazakhstan; Mr. Zoltan Szalai, representative of the European Delegation; K.T. Magzieva, National Coordinator of the EU Framework Program, Horizon 2020, in Kazakhstan (H2020-NCP-KZ) as well as E.T. Sadykov, Deputy Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, Mr. Trajan Khristea talked about the purpose and objectives of the project, and Aitzhan Mukhametzhanovich expressed his wishes for close cooperation in the field of science and education and active participation of the faculty members of the University in competition of the EU's "Horizon-2020" Program.
At the workshop, opening addresses were delivered by Mr. Traian Christiea, Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan; E.T. Sadykov, Deputy Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as I.T. Tokbergenov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Activity. K.T. Magzieva, National Coordinator of the EU Framework Program, Horizon 2020, in Kazakhstan (H2020-NCP-KZ) was the moderator of the Information Workshop.
Mr. Trajan Khristea highlighted the importance of the Horizon 2020 Program and the main program priorities, which include: strengthening the European role in science through the activities of the European Research Council; strengthening industrial leadership in innovation, which includes major investments in key technologies, increased access to capital and support for entrepreneurship, and assistance in addressing key social issues common to all Europeans, such as climate change, sustainable transport and mobility, the use of renewable energy sources, food safety, public safety, population aging problems.
In turn, K.T. Magzieva presented the available information on how to participate in the program "Horizon 2020"; funding opportunities for researchers from the Republic of Kazakhstan; new competitions of working programs "Horizon 2020" for 2018-2020, suitable for the participation of researchers from Kazakhstan, as well as the main thematic priorities of the Program: future and new technologies; the Marie Skłodowska-Curie scholarship program for the development of excellence, career and training; research infrastructure (including electronic infrastructure); leadership in accessible industrial technologies.
Faculty members of HEIs of Kazakhstan, including young scientists and lecturers of Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University actively participated in the seminar.
This event caused a huge resonance among journalists of the mass media of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who interviewed the Ambassador of the European Delegation, Mr. Trajan Khristea and E.T. Sadykov, the Deputy Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was organized by the European Commission's International Cooperation Support Service and the Center for the Development of International Cooperation and Multilingual Education of Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University.
